Never having really lived

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered

“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

  1. Couldn’t have said it better……This rolls over to our children too – so many of us stress to our children the importance of getting good results – so that you can get a ‘good job’ – so that you can earn good money, but fail to get over the importance and joy and the many other benefits that a good education delivers . The work hard to get money seed is sewn so early. As a parent is so hard not to get caught up in the competitive educational frenzy out there and not sew that seed.
