Simple instructions for staying present

Remember to use your body as a vehicle for awakening. It can be as simple as staying mindful of your posture. You are probably sitting as you read this. What are the sensations in your body at this moment? When you…stand, feel the movements of standing, of walking to the next activity, of how you lie down at the end of the day. Be in your body as you move, as you reach for something, as you turn. It is as simple as that.

  1. Excellent. We can use all of our senses while sitting(meditating) to bring us to now. When sitting and a thought or an emotions arises, drop the story and follow the sensations. get to know the inner world, our mechanisms. Know your fear, the mechanism, the sensations of how we work.

PTSD sufferers have trauma stored from past abuse which activates our fight or flight mechanism. fear, panic and terror explodes with a trigger thought. Avoiding or dissociating is the immediate response. This fuels PTSD because we have left this moment to think.

If we can develop our focus in the breath and stay present to observe this explosion our trauma heals. We create a different world in our heads far from the present moment.

We have the opportunity for happiness only in this moment.

mybe think oflife as finite. We have so many breaths in our life. Each breath taken thinking about the past or worry about the future is wasted and never able to recover it. Accepting situations and people and letting them exist on heir own is needed.

Our issues are complicate by our judgments. Once we need to judge something we own it and will defend it. vacate every judgment you can and free yourself to be here, now, free.

Buddhist say it takes few desires to be happy.

  2. I love this. My acupuncturist always tells me to watch my cat and stretch like she does. I’m learning the importance of moving my body and paying attention to the moving. Thank you.
