If you get into agreeable circumstances, then shine through agreeable circumstances. If you fall into adverse situations, then shine through adverse situations. When greed or desire arise, shine through greed and desire; when hatred or anger arise, shine through hatred and anger; when you act out of ignorance, shine through ignorance. When the three poisons of hatred, greed, and ignorance are not more, and the mind is pure, shine through that pure mind. At all times, in all places, be it desires, senses, gain, loss, right, wrong…..in all things shine through with your whole body
Hakuin, 1686 – 1769, On Kensho, The Four Ways of Knowing

If I can let you go as trees let go
Their leaves, so casually, one by one;
If I can come to know what they do know,
That fall is the release, the consummation,
Then fear of time and the uncertain fruit
Would not distemper the great lucid skies
This strangest autumn, mellow and acute.
If I can take the dark with open eyes
And call it seasonal, not harsh or strange
(For love itself may need a time of sleep),
And, treelike, stand unmoved before the change,
Lose what I lose to keep what I can keep,
The strong root still alive under the snow,
Love will endure – if I can let you go.
May Sarton, Autumn Sonnets

When we experience pure silence in the mind, the body becomes silent also.
And in that field of silence, healing is much more efficient.
Deepak Chopra

Or even on the wet and windy autumn morning we have here in Ireland…
What do love and hate matter when I am here alone
listening to the sound of the rain
late on this autumn evening
Dogen, 1200 – 1253

One does not see anything
until one sees its beauty
