Understanding the world

When we convene again
to understand the world,
the first speaker will …
point silently out of the window
at the hillside in its season,
sunlit, under the snow,
and we will nod silently,
and silently stand and go.

Wendell Berry , Those Awake

Very little

Nature teaches us simplicity and contentment,

because in its presence we realize

that we need very little to be happy

Mark Coleman

Letting change happen

I settled at Cold Mountain a while ago, already it seems like years and years.

Freely drifting, I wander the woods and streams
And sit there, watching things themselves; I am satisfied.
Not many come this far into the mountains,
White clouds sometimes touch and pass, thin grass does for a mattress,
The blue sky makes a good cover, a stone under my head.
I am happy

I’ll let heaven and earth go about their changes.

Han Shan, Cold Mountain, poem 12

Less

I wish more people knew that healing the nervous system is about being still.

Laying in the sun. Being present while you eat your food. Listening to the sounds of nature. Letting your imagination run wild.

Instead of more routine, the body needs less.

Dr Nicole LePera.

Sunday Quote: to live

To live is the rarest thing in the world.

Most people exist, that is all.

Oscar Wilde

A change

Awakening does not mean a change in difficulty,

it means a change in how those difficulties are met.

Mark Epstein, The Trauma of Everyday life
