Being happy with here

Everything you need is already here

This is what we notice when we simply sit quietly with ourselves for even a few moments: we experience the accumulated momentum of mental noise, booming and buzzing. We notice how strongly we are trained to want something different from what is happening. We notice that our minds are very well-trained in dissatisfaction and distraction. Almost always our focus is on something else — not this. We seek another moment of greater happiness — not this moment. Contentment seems always elsewhere — never here.

– that to live is to feel oneself lost –

He who accepts it has already begun to find himself to be on firm ground.

What to be aware of today

Walking the Dog

If one thing is developed and cultivated, the body is calmed, the mind is calmed, discursive thoughts are quieted,

and all wholesome states that partake of supreme knowledge reach fullness of development.

What is that one thing?

It is mindfulness directed to the body

A new week begins

begin again

Keep in mind that no matter how badly you feel things have been going, no matter how long it has been since you last meditated, you can always begin again. Nothing is lost; nothing is ruined. We have this very moment in front of us. We can start now

Keeping in touch with an underlying truth

Unless that underground level of the self is preserved as a verified and verifying element in your make-up, you are going to be in danger of settling into whatever profile the world prepares for you and accepting whatever profile the world provides for you. You’ll be in danger of molding yourselves in accordance with laws of growth other than those of your own intuitive being.
