A new month.
A lot of anxiety and dysfunction all around. The challenge: Not to be a victim of the frantic world in which we live in, or of the way in which our nervous systems respond.
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water,
and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief.
I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
Wendell Berry
Ahhhh, the calming and wise words of Wendell Berry! Thanks; it’s very comforting, and right now our world needs lots of soothing comfort.

What a wonderful new theme and header, I love it! And along with that the post with the words of Wendell Berry. Thank you! I will re-blog this.
Thanks Jude, Felt it was time for a change and it needed to be made a bit for user-friendly for phones and tablets. It releases a bit of new energy and I hope to (a bit inspired by your photography blog) to take better photos etc. I do like the possibility of the header and the header itself – taken in Glendalough just on my phone. The lake was incredibly still that day. Thanks for the feedback. You are the first to notice it! Karl
I saw this reblogged on The Writer in the Woods and found such wisdom in it. I needed the reminder in the bolded lines! Thank you for sharing Berry’s words.
Wintering in SW Florida for the first time, I sit for my meditation daily on my lanai, so close to the egrets, woodpeckers, grackles, turtles, anhingas and most recently wood storks.
