We never know the full picture

At the center of his existence man is unknown to himself and must remain so,

for that part of being that calls itself man could be known fully

only if the community of being and its drama in time were finally known as a whole.

Eric Voegelin, American political philosopher, 1901 – 1985

Keep your eyes fresh and open and joyful.

And move with sure steps, yet flexibly

through the fields of world so richly endowed

Sunday Quote: A Day of Rest

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Antique_radio_coffee_newspaper.JPG

True restfulness is living ordinary life with a sense of ease, gratitude, appreciation, peace and prayer. We are restful when ordinary life is enough.

Ron Rolheiser, The Shattered Lantern

Not avoiding

 File:14 06 28 Detour Sign Dunedin FL 01.jpg
To see myself and my life as they truly are is joy.
After all the struggle and avoiding and denying and going the other way,
it is deeply satisfying for a second to be there with life as it is.
The satisfaction is the very core of ourselves.
Who we are is beyond words –
just that open power of life,  manifesting constantly in all sorts of interesting things,
even in our own misery and struggles.
The hassle is both horrendous and wholesome.
Charlotte Joko Beck.

Not wasting moments

File:Cleveland Way Signpost. - geograph.org.uk - 1036366.jpg

Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Looking within

I can give you nothing
that has not already
its origins within yourself

I can throw open no
picture gallery
but your own

I can help make
your own world visible –
that is all.

Herman Hesse.
