There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the present moment.
A man’s whole life is a succession of moment after moment.
If one fully understands the present moment, there will be nothing else to do, and
nothing else to pursue.
Live being true to the single purpose of the moment.

Has a cat a Buddha-nature?
Hi Ben,
Well……..The blog has a practical focus – suffering and the reduction of suffering – and I do not blog just for the sake of blogging and try to avoid too much metaphysical reflections on things which are beyond our power to grasp…….but …..
he is certainly truer to his nature than I am to mine, and he certainly can sit a lot quieter than I can, so my inclination is to say yes. Can only comment on this cat however, since others have devious natures…
My comment was not intended as a serious theological enquiry. Your photo is a beautiful and serene one and it made me smile. I hoped to reciprocate. Thank you for your thoughtful response. Karl.
Hi Ben,
You are asking the wrong person if it was! You did make me smile. He is only serene when it suits him. My response was somewhat tongue-in-cheek and not intended as anything deep. Thanks for all the comments, light and serious.
and thank *you* for your double dose of wisdom, compassion and sheer common sense. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
It is a beautiful picture and that was a lovely conversation about it. Thank you both!
