The way things are

File:Abeuni2.JPG

Hope and fear are both phantoms that arise from thinking of the self.

When we don’t hold strongly to the self as self, what do we have to fear?

Have faith in the way things are.

Love all things that happen as your self; then you can care for all things.

How to train the mind

File:Happy man in a rainy day.jpg

Consider all phenomena to be dreams.
Don’t be swayed by outer circumstances.
Be grateful to everyone.
Don’t brood over the faults of others.
Explore the nature of unborn awareness.
At all times simply rely on a joyful mind.
Don’t expect a standing ovation

Sunday Quote: As it is

IMG_1261

Just receive life as it is.

Don’t make a problem about it.

Open yourself to the way things are.

Stilling the voices

File:Ryotan Temple Gate.JPG

Today I’m flying low and I’m

not saying a word.

I’m letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.

The world goes on as it must,

the bees in the garden rumbling a little,

the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.

And so forth.

But I’m taking the day off.

Quiet as a feather.

I hardly move though really I’m traveling

a terrific distance.

Stillness. One of the doors

into the temple.

Acceptance of things

File:Antennae galaxies xl.jpg

Things are as they are.

Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars,

nor between well and badly arranged constellations.

Sunday Quote: Grandeur

File:Mount Kenya.jpg

If there is a sin against life, it consists perhaps not so much in despairing of life

as in hoping for another life

and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this life.
